Inexpensive and works, good combination. Uses 3 AA batteries, not included, but a third single battery controls the built-in light; so it's pretty much optional. The tip needs to be tinned before use, which you all should be aware of. If not, you can watch tinning videos on YouTube. The tip is not designed for extended use on large wires and because it runs on AA batteries it is better suited for shorter flash soldering on smaller wires for small circuit work. The instructions recommend removing the batteries when not in use, otherwise battery acid may leak after a period of time, which is annoying for most people. However, for the money and decent performance I think it's worth the 5 star rating. Only its reliability and durability can change my assessment; So far, so good.
