Thought it would be good for a small repair to re-solder the mouse switch. He couldn't melt the factory lead-free solder at all. It's also not possible to remove solder with a wick because it doesn't have enough heat to get through the braid. This can only work if you don't desolder and have very small solder joints. The device also eats up all 3 AA batteries in about 20 minutes then there is no heat. The switch is also very cheap and sometimes the device turns off when pressed. "Light" on it…

Don't know what it is. Maybe spend a few bucks more and get a better one and then tell me how it works. Because I warned you about it. It basically works when it wants to, using a set of batteries about every solder joint or two. The maximum I got was three wires on a set of batteries. And I've had it for many moons and I've been waiting to see it. I researched as much as I could and got more from reviews and YouTube. I'm not done with this device yet. Always have my plug or backup butane…

So far, so good; Use the right care and it does a pretty good job.

Inexpensive and works, good combination. Uses 3 AA batteries, not included, but a third single battery controls the built-in light; so it's pretty much optional. The tip needs to be tinned before use, which you all should be aware of. If not, you can watch tinning videos on YouTube. The tip is not designed for extended use on large wires and because it runs on AA batteries it is better suited for shorter flash soldering on smaller wires for small circuit work.
