Review on Kwikset Tustin Privacy Door Handle Lever with Traditional Wave Design for Home Bedroom or Bathroom – Polished Chrome Finish by Josh Sharp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well built, simple, clean look.

I bought this lever for my master bedroom door just so I can lock it to keep guests and kids out. I was very happy with the look and weight of the lever. Installation should be easy, but I ran into a complication that was maybe a 1-in-1-million match. After installing the assembly you will need to place the inner tier and secure it with this small hex head screw. One thing I found very odd was that it was reverse threaded. The left-hander was tight while the right-hander was loose. never mind The main problem arose when the screw was too large to fit through the hole on the lever to screw into the internal assembly. I taped the lever around to prevent scratches and drilled a slightly larger hole. It wasn't enough. There was a small bevel at the end of the screw. It's as if the maker had a bold mold in which he poured molten steel and it created a tiny edge. I had to use my dremmel to grind it to match the diameter of the rest of the screw. Everything worked out in the end, but it was still excruciating to do all this for a relatively easy installation. That's why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. EDIT: I noticed my installation error when the second set of levers came in with the same problem. The tiny hex screw should remain on the central mounting mechanism. You need to adjust the inner level, put the Allen key through the hole and remove the screw. When the screw is loosened, it pushes on the inside of the lever that attaches it to the central node.
