Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced ProForm 66995 Electronic Conversion Distributor by Scott Clayton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installation isn't as easy as converting points, however.

As this kit costs just over a point for an electronic conversion of your existing manifold this is a much better and more reliable method. Keep in mind that unless you're very good with a wrench, this can be more than you'd like. You can go to Proform website and download the installation manual to decide by yourself. In order for the shop mechanic to make the replacement for you and get it right and accurate, expect to spend around two to three hours of work at the shop, and that's if they let you bring your own parts at all! Most are not currently. Otherwise, this is the way to go for older cars that still have the original and sometimes difficult to adjust point distributor under the hood, as the coatings do not take into account that they will be fitted to an old, and more than likely original vintage distributor that will fail due to wear and tear of the bearings/bushings in the distributor shaft itself could be on its last legs. This is normal and therefore distributors usually have to be replaced. The full kit eliminates this as a potential problem and only adds to the invaluable confidence you get from eliminating the dots entirely. Oh yes, it also looks exactly like the original and uses the same lid and rotor if I'm not mistaken. You can also get creative with where to mount the control box so it doesn't look like you've changed anything, for those who prioritize authenticity and want to keep the look under the hood.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Nothing
