I took a closeup of where the wooden handle joins the top. To be honest it seems very safe. I'm not worried about it falling apart. Used on my cast iron skillet and grill and they didn't scratch. Housekeeping is great too! Food stuck to food can be easily removed. I've noticed similar offerings that come with the dish rack. I actually bought it by accident thinking it came with a dish rack. In the end, I was very happy that I chose this list because of its durability. Bought a dish rack elsewhere.
