Review on 🎡 Raspberry Pi Octo 8-Channel Sound Card by Michael Tucker

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Reliable multi-channel I2S audio interface at a great price

I use several Octos for scientific data acquisition and they perform very well up to 48 fps (some distortion at 96 fps). The inputs are very clean, low-noise and virtually free of interfering signals. In use they are very reliable, no unexplained failures or breakdowns. The device connects directly to the Pi's I2S bus, making it much more reliable than a USB audio interface. Installation is pretty easy, just edit a little text in /boot/config.txt to enable the required overlay. Octo is an incredible value. , so many ins and outs for such a low price. There is nothing quite like the Pi at any price. On the other hand, there is no official documentation or specifications and support is provided through the forum. But there is plenty of information on the internet and help and advice on the forums if you need it. Of course it is possible that you will notice processing defects if you take a magnifying glass, but the quality is suitable for an inexpensive construction.

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • Annoying
