I bought this because of the Wirecutter reviews, despite the negative comments from America's Test Kitchen. I should have listened to the ATK guys. It performs well, it's easy to clean, easy to assemble, it has multiple disc sizes, it sits securely on the bowl or pan. It has a lot to like. except that it doesn't do what it's supposed to. It doesn't actually grind food. It didn't work with any of the products I tried to process. This is a fundamental design flaw. The ATK review says the problem was a weak spring designed to press the food against the grinding wheel, but I think their assessment is incorrect. I suspect the problem is the gasket that keeps the rotary press from putting pressure on the food. As a result, very little pressure is exerted on the product to be ground and products tend to accumulate between the rotating press and the stationary knife. Even with the coarsest disc, very little food gets through the disc. I would have sent it back but threw away the packaging before realizing that this meat grinder was useless. It was an expensive mistake.
