Review on ๐Ÿ“ก Antennas Direct SM200 HD Digital Signal Booster by Laura Washington

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works perfectly. For certain things

That's how it worked for me. I bought this to find the best alignment for my external OTA antennas. Actually it isn't. I live about 45 miles out of town and when connected to my UHF or VHF antenna it shows '1'. This confused me because with the combination of Antennas Direct DB8 and Clearstream 5 I get all my channels perfectly (no gaps). Everything is great except PBS. PBS is listed as a low signal channel in my area, so I've learned to live with that. I rarely watch PBS but the kids love Ruff Ruffman so I should try to improve it if I can. The meter came in handy when it helped me identify the best splinters in the house. After my antennas are connected to the diplexer, I have a preamp. The signal with the meter after my preamp is 3. I've noticed that different splitters affect the signal differently. Some dropped it to 1, others stayed at 3. So I used a splitter connections counter and now we have PBS (except on rainy days). PBS = happy kids. If you refuse to pay the cable guy and like to mess around with the signal strength then I think this is a good tool when you have splitters in the line. One more note: I took this to a friend's house about 18 miles from the towers. . The meter on the roof also had the number "1". I think this thing has two uses: 1) Find some kind of signal when you have no idea which direction the towers are. Like a TV in a van or similar 2) to determine the best splitter/wiring configuration in your home. I give it 4 stars because it worked but not in the way I thought it would.

Pros

Cons
  • Some difficulties
