Review on SMAKN® Converter Supply Module OUTPUT by Hikeboy Ramey

I used this converter to connect a Ring Alarm keyboard where an old ADT keyboard was installed. ADT uses a DSC box for all wiring. My DSC box is powered by a Honeywell step-down transformer with an output voltage of 16.5VAC 25VA. I was nervous about using a DC converter as I was concerned that my old transformer in the DSC box would supply AC instead of DC. I used a multimeter to check the ends of the connectors where I wanted to place the Ring Keyboard. Have 12.5V DC voltage. I also tested the 12V battery in the DSC (12V) box. I figured there must be some form of power conversion in all this weird mess in the DSC box, knowing that a 12v battery can't be supported by constant AC power. Anyway, the installation was easy. The main reason why the keyboard constantly needs power is that it lights up and shows the system status (Home, Away, Disarmed). I have a glass door and a criminal scout can see these lights and know the system is armed (so this purchase is more of a deterrent if nothing else). I know the keyboard doesn't need to be charged, but it does every 9 months or so. The device is well thought out. The reason for purchase is secondary to the delivery time of one day. Other similar items would need 7-20 days to ship. Updated: 01/13/20. So far there are no problems.
