I received this to upgrade an old iMac (circa 2006 model) with an SSD as this is the only thing anyone can do to get more usage out of those old dinosaurs with their 3GB and Break out of 32-bit operating system limitations. The only issue I had was that the mounting holes didn't line up exactly with the proprietary hard drive brackets that were removed from the original hard drive I was replacing. The 2-drive bracket fits better because it's a bit longer and you need '3-hole' brackets for 2006 iMacs. I believe the same goes for any older iMac that comes with a 3.5" drive. Model with two hard drives and at a small additional cost. Also, you can install a second 2.5" drive if you have an extra power supply and SATA.
