Yes, the price of this stone is expensive. Since it's so smooth and barely removes any metal, it should last a very long time. It polishes knife blades very well and sharpens razors when you're done with them. I still continue on the leather strap to get sharper, although they say it's not necessary, it definitely gets sharper with the leather strap because I measure the sharpness with a BESS Sharpener Tester and planing definitely improves the blade too, but this stone makes the knife as sharp as most would like. To me, this is a stone that anyone serious about polishing things should have. Yes, it's expensive, but it should last a long time as it's more of a polish than a metal remover.
