Removes metal faster than expected

I sharpen knives as a business. I use ceramic tape to remove most of what needs to be removed and then move on to this wheel. I only do 4000 loops at the very top and it takes 1-2 passes on each side if you are going for a "very light" buff. I find it needs a few more deburrings if I want 4000 to be my final treatment. But you can't tell the difference in sharpness, so I opt for a faster polish! PS Tormek recommends regrinding every minute or so to relieve the disc surface. I do this less often

Great but one sided. They are all.

For the price this should be perfect. I had a Tormek T4 and now I have a T-8. All of the very expensive Japanese waterstones (of which 4 were ordered) were either chipped or crooked and needed fine grinding. If you're asking those prices, I think you should take the time to sand them down completely and pack them better to avoid damage in transit. I ordered 3 stones for T4 before one arrived intact, the 3rd was intact but askew. The T8 stone was intact but also very crooked. Keep in mind that…

Expensive but good stone

Yes, the price of this stone is expensive. Since it's so smooth and barely removes any metal, it should last a very long time. It polishes knife blades very well and sharpens razors when you're done with them. I still continue on the leather strap to get sharper, although they say it's not necessary, it definitely gets sharper with the leather strap because I measure the sharpness with a BESS Sharpener Tester and planing definitely improves the blade too, but this stone makes the knife as sharp

  • Whetstones
Cons
  • Has been damaged
