This is an additional tray to the factory tray in the center console. This is a two layer tray as shown in the pictures. The upper shelf slides over the lower storage shelf. There's still room under the tray for more storage, but this helps keep the center console more organized. Adding this storage unit and keeping the factory compartment takes up quite a bit of the entire opening space, requiring one of the compartments to be removed to access the area below.
