I saw a youtube video showing a similar installation with a 9V battery in a black case connected directly to the battery terminals. I thought I would buy this here. Not as much. I was concerned that I only had the old battery and the new battery that I couldn't use during the transition. Deciding I had nothing to lose, I hooked up a 9 volt battery to the alligator clips and connected it to my outlet. Immediately started squeaking. We then changed the battery, which took quite a while (it was cold and we dropped/touched a few things). He kept squeaking the whole time. After installing a new battery, the car started without any loss of information. My radio and windows are working, my mileage history is there and all my navigation history is intact. HUGE VICTORY for this granny. I would highly recommend this rather than paying a service technician, especially if you have more than one machine. I would advise NOT to wait until the weather is below freezing!
