Review on ☕️ Secura 50-Ounce Stainless Steel Insulated Coffee Press with Extra Screen - French Press Coffee Maker by Brianna Kamp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good but not great

Very nice with a few small imperfections (I think). Immaculate stainless steel inside and out. Two additional screens are available. I preheated a pot of hot tap water, then poured it out, immediately ground my coffee (of course. and nothing notable entered our cups through a strainer. The instructions suggest doubling the strainers if you like. Perhaps useful for finer ground coffee ) and then poured into my freshly boiled water. The first thing to choose. The bottom of the lid has a sloping, raised portion that I think you should line up with the spout when pouring. It takes up about a quarter of the bottom circle of the lid, but there's really no need to rotate it around the spout because the rest of the lid doesn't go deep enough into the pot to prevent spills. Here, in my opinion, is the first design flaw. Why? Because heat rises and valuable heat waves escape from the top of the pot, no matter how you turn the lid. My decision? I folded a kitchen towel in half lengthwise, wrapped it around the spout, and tucked it under the handle to block the free flow of heat. Second design flaw. This is a double-walled thermos, but the outer walls have become lukewarm, allowing heat to escape through the walls of the pot. Disappointing as it indicates the effectiveness of insulation, or lack thereof. That said, with my towel wrapped around the spout, a nearly full pot (probably 1250ml) of coffee stayed acceptably hot for nearly an hour, which is about twice as long as my old single-walled glass French press wrapped in two layers. kitchen towels. For the next pot, I can wrap it completely in towels for extra insulation. I'm wondering if anyone makes neoprene sleeves that would fit this pot?
