My channel is BBQ/Food focused and requires a top down method of filming. I've tried many "cheap" hands, all with mixed and terrible results, like slow lowering that claims to be able to hold 2-3 pounds but moves with a lot less weight. What I really needed was an inexpensive hand that could hold my camera and ring light, this one works. Unlike some other levers, you can actually see the teeth where the knuckles articulate. This prevents me from tightening them incorrectly causing slippage or breakage even if the gears/teeth are plastic if you unscrew the cranks far enough. , they should not rub against each other and will stay firmly in place once tightened. The levers themselves are metal, although I'm pretty sure it's painted aluminum should they be strong enough to work. It doesn't offer the same flexibility or instant articulation as the others, but since I need more static attachment this will do the job just fine. He too is silent. The only two downsides I see at the moment are metal pivot bolts which appear to be surrounded by plastic to match the size of the bolt. This can be detrimental, but is not a problem now. Second, there is no dampening method. So unless your desk is very heavy or narrow, impact will shake it. This isn't a problem for me personally as the last overhead solution I had was attached to the back of the chair. in front of the table I use. but it should at least be noted. There are other much more expensive options, but since my channel is just starting out, the budget is pretty limited. I think I'll be buying another one or two in the near future.
