I've been thinking about upgrading the radio but it looks like I need to make a few connections for the wiring harness. Extra work + cost of a new radio in a very old car - not really worth it. We live in the country and with the new antenna I can now receive my favorite stations and not only hear distorted voices and noise. You won't mistake the result for fancy stereo, but it works great for my purposes. Here is the real reason for this rating. There may be people who know as little about car audio systems as I do. I took out the radio and a few other things that didn't need to be disturbed. Think about where the antenna cable goes into the car. There is a connector behind the panel at this point. Remove the pin end of the antenna cable and insert the end of the new antenna cable. When the sound has improved significantly, all you have to do is attach the cable to the old antenna cable you just unplugged and carefully remove the old antenna by pulling the cable out of the hole in the old antenna. Now carefully tape the new antenna's connector onto the cord (I didn't have tape on the connecting part of the wire - just above it) and carefully thread the cord/new antenna wire back into the car. Connect and tighten the two screws holding the antenna outside the vehicle. You may need some sealant if the gasket doesn't fit perfectly. IMPORTANT: Drill a hole for the second screw BEFORE you start bending the Boundary Wire, at the very least you're drilling something you shouldn't.
