Review on ETEKJOY Electronic Cabinet Hidden Wooden by Alex May

Works most of the time but includes plan B for emergency access

I use this RFID lock to secure my medicine cabinet in the kitchen, the door is about 7/8 inch thick. I have experience in RF and electronics design and manufacturing. The lock was a little tricky to level and it took several attempts to adjust it to close and lock naturally every time. A template from the supplier or suggested offsets from the edges would make installation much easier. Connecting individual RFID tags was very easy following the video in the list. I've been using the lock twice a day for about 3 weeks and it hasn't let me down, however it does require some persistence. At best, I believe in it. It took 10 or 15 passes with the RFID tag to open. As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem like the device is waking up. What can you do? To force the closet open, you should add a plan B method to open the closet. For me I added a hidden emergency release to the locking mechanism. I did this by notching out the area marked red in the photo and soldering a small loop of wire to the trigger where it was marked blue. This allows a small hook to pull the trigger in case the RFID fails or the batteries run out (presumably triggers when the battery is low). I've had good results with this, but this mod was tricky and required some tweaking to get it right. Do this at your own risk.
