I only bought this to make waffles. I should have known better than to buy a plastic kitchen utensil. I followed the instructions and when I put the potato in to start slicing, after a few back and forth movements the plastic blade holder slipped off the guide and the top came off. And stopped to rebuild it and the same. What should have taken 30-45 seconds ended up taking 4 minutes! Maybe it works well with other lighter vegetables - carrots, cucumbers. But for heavy items, you really need 3 hands to do the job.
