Exactly what I wanted - a riichi mahjong set. I have other American and Chinese sets, but I specifically wanted a red five set to play Japanese Riichi Mahjong. Yes, the set is made in China, but it's designed to play Japanese Mahjong. The tiles have a good density, look bulky and make a solid impression so far. Some betting sticks had excess coating that needed cleaning. However, great value for money. Some people might be put off by the fact that there are no numbers/letters in the corners of the tiles, so English-only readers can tell what the tiles are. In a game I played with some new players, they had to constantly look at the sheet I printed out for them to find out what costume number the character had or what wind they were on. However, by the end of the game, they were fine. Regarding the lack of rules included in the pack, some reviews mentioned: I found the rules included in other sets useless. Search the Internet for the European Mahjong Association rules in PDF format and download them. Or better yet, buy a Japanese Mahjong book here at Revain.
