I have this speaker to put on the hot tub. I have an old iPhone with a waterproof docking case. I read in other reviews that the range is short. That may be true, but it could also be a feature of your phone. Bluetooth can be inconvenient. I always just leave our special Jacuzzi phone next to the speaker, so it wasn't a problem for me. The sound quality is pretty good. I wouldn't expect a speaker of this size to be very loud, but it's more than enough for our hot tub. It is convenient that the speaker can charge the phone. We had a heavy downpour and the speaker stopped working and I went through the returns window but thought I'd try contacting them and they actually sent me a new one very quickly. If you doubt it, I would say go for it.
