When I think of the microscope I had as a kid that cost about the same, it's surprisingly good. The construction is solid and you get a good range of lenses. You can make coarse and fine focus adjustments and there are 2 LED indicators that light up or down. The lenses are of good quality and everything works. This is a good microscope to teach children how to use and stimulate their interest in science in general. It's also good enough for most adults' daily needs. I wanted to use it to see which of my starter cultures is more active, but I broke the (plastic) petri dish when I first used it. However, the accessories may not be of the best quality, but the microscope itself is very good for its price. This is a complete kit that includes everything you need for surveillance. including a set of slides and a (again plastic) dropper. There are also strips of pepper and (as mentioned above) a plastic Petri dish. You might want to replace some accessories if you use them frequently, but it's certainly enough to get you started and get a feel for the scale (e.g. how far the dial moves when you focus). This is a great gift for science minded kids, allowing them to explore and learn independently. It's lightweight and durable. Although very basic, it is fully functional and I personally think it's very good for the price.
