After reading about the problems with "LOUD" I thought yes this would be the perfect call for my MTB. It's easier to turn down the volume than to turn it up louder. I'm a driver in Phoenix that can be made of MANY rocks, from sand to boulders, TONS of rocks. I sometimes ride in a miner's helmet, jk. Rocks aside, there are definitely some trails that I ride with blind turns, plus we share these trails with both tourists and more importantly, riders. After speaking to a rider about trail sharing issues, she suggested that every MTB rider should constantly urge safety to avoid possible worst-case scenarios. So, yes, this bell is loud, but the black tape around the inner contact area of the bell fixes that completely, and there's a loud, muffled cowbell sound that's perfect for my needs. For the people who walk the trail with headphones etc it's a different matter altogether as they switch off it's not good for THEM to completely switch off and pay attention to others on the trail. When they're not on it. More updates will follow.
