Removes mold due to iron and manganese in water

I upgraded this filter and iSpring housing to my current whole house water filtration system. My system was doing an excellent job of removing solids and chlorine from my public water prior to installing the FM25B, but was exacerbating mold growth in sink drains, faucet aerators and showerheads due to the lack of chlorine. After reading about this phenomenon, I found that the culprits are the residual levels of iron and manganese in the water which, along with the lack of chlorine to counteract oxidation, actually encourage growth. So as a final step, I add the iSpring Iron and Manganese filter to my system. Voila, the mold is gone! No pink or brown-black mold in sinks, showers, etc. The second benefit is that the water is much softer now. I consulted with iSpring's customer service representative, Francis, several times before purchasing. He was extremely helpful in giving me the details of the filter like the particle size limits of Fe and Mn. He even recommended that I contact my local water authority to check what the # was. FYI - this was a little tricky as these metals are NOT regulated by FDA guidelines and are only measured according to 'recommendations'. Of course, less is better as this will determine the life of the filter. This is important given the cost of the filter. An exchange 1-2 times a year makes economic sense, but not once a month. And finally, given the size of the filter and the fact that it was added to my current system, I decided to turn on the pressure regulator after the last stage of filtration (see image) in the expectation that there would be a pressure drop that I would compensate for would have to. . In the end everything is fine, the problem is solved and the print is still very good.
