All my Nikkor lenses have "US" before the serial number but this one doesn't. I was sad, depressed and angry. So I called the Nikon service center in Los Angeles to check it out. My lens is an American lens. Now I can smile again. Nikon number 1 800 645-6687. And you can register your lens too! phew Great lens. Buy it.
