I have bought several different Brainerd wall plates and I am very happy with them. They are true to size. The wood is thick, good quality, with good weight and a solid hand feel. Metal support plates, not mentioned in the description, are attached to the covers that cover live wires. They are strong enough to withstand the torque of the mounting screws so they can be pressed firmly against the wall. They stain easily and in my case it took two coats. If I were going to paint them I would probably sand them lightly first with very fine sandpaper. I will buy more in the future.
