Greenwashing! Not good for the environment

Purchasing this product was a mistake on my part, based on ignorance. First, bioplastics are PLASTICS. Duh, right? Educate yourself just a bit, and you'll find that just because a plastic is sourced from "natural" materials does not mean that the end result is Earth friendly. Also, "compostable" is a really slippery slope. First, will it degrade in your home compost pile? Highly doubtful. So, does your city offer industrial composting? If not, then save your money and just buy whatever plastic garbage bag you like best, because once something goes to a landfill, it will *not* biodegrade. That's right: landfills are literally designed to prevent biodegradation for the sole reason that there's really scary stuff (chemicals, etc.) in a landfill, and nobody wants that stuff leaching into the groundwater. So. long story short- if you put mixed garbage into these bags and then set them out for the garbage truck, then you have done exactly NOTHING different for the environment than what a typical garbage bag would have done. No judgement, here, just the truth. Don't get "greenwashed" into believing these companies. They are selling a "feel good" lie to innocent (yet ignorant) consumers who think they are making good decisions for the planet. Please educate yourselves re. what is actually biodegradable, compostable, etc. before handing money to companies like this. Same goes for that "compostable" silverware, anything not wood-based (i.e. sugar cane), etc. If you don't know for a fact that the item can be degraded in a manner that you *personally* have access to, then it will almost certainly not be worth the price as a "sustainable" product.

Pros
  • Better strength then similar bags I’ve purchased
Cons
  • They tear when taken out of barrel. I wish they’d hold up to being moved with matter in it.
