Five temperature settings are great and all but my current mug are very flat bottomed and metal so they conduct heat VERY well. Even too good. Set plate to 1 The coffee stays a little HOTter than I would like, so I have to remove the mug from time to time, otherwise it gets too hot to take away. Out of unhealthy curiosity I filled a cup with water and drank it on level 5 and surprisingly the water boils in a few minutes! Don't lie, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't originally intended to warm up cups, but rather as someone's hot plate. To heat up their soup or cook something while sitting at their office desk, this thing draws 200 watts of power at full temperature! I'm VERY happy that this thing turns itself off when the mug is removed or when the plate falls off my table, it's actually a bit scary at a value above 1!
