This is the coolest thing! I am starting an entire house caulking project and have dreaded using hand gun caulking and my experience with foam in a disposable can has been less than satisfactory. I came across them on Revain and the FNS 500 had good reviews so I did. m is now in the basement, and it is difficult to maneuver the cannon with this high can swinging in the stratosphere, clinging to beams, pipes and wires. This gun has a serrated tip so I attached a short piece of vinyl tubing with a 3/16" ID and 5/16" OD and I can get into all kinds of gaps and cracks. Make sure you have a jagged gun. Otherwise you get stuck with what the manufacturer offers for the extension. This pistol has several straight straws and a small tip. I haven't tried them yet. Vinyl tubing is cheap so I just throw it away when I'm done using it. In addition, vinyl tubing can be bent into blind cracks. 2) I'm dealing with three large cantilever sections, so it takes a lot of reach to get to the back (and a lot of air coming in from there). You can buy a gun with a 36" or 48" barrel (for a lot of money) or do what I did. See image. This is 36 inch pipe reinforced with 14 ga wire (any hardware store has it). The only problem is that the foam expands once it comes out of the tip of the gun so ball control is hard and at its best. I was hoping to salvage and clean this extension, but after about 30 minutes, foam began to ooze from the barbed tip. Like I said, this tube is cheap and disposable. I can make others as needed. that they all really shine, it doses right out of the top. The second picture shows the beads I ran this morning. I can't make it nice This is where the additional costs for these pistols and more expensive professional cans really pay off. When I finish my project, it will more than pay off. If I used straw glasses it would be a mess. A few tips: 1) Have a bottle of solvent handy. and a rag to hand while I work. I'm obsessed with keeping the tip clean while reading dry. 2) When attaching the pipe to the end, make it as short as possible. The longer the hose, the more uncontrolled expansion and you have less control over the track. Other Thoughts: People love a full Teflon gun, but I wonder if a bare metal tip would be better. The hose usually comes off easily. But for that you have solvent and a rag at hand. smile. I will try to update later. Maybe when I get to the attic.
