Review on 🚗 Gabriel 49304 Shock Absorber - Enhanced Performance, 2 Pack by Jay Koterba

Revainrating 3 out of 5

a quality control issue?

3 star rating because I couldn't use it. Here are my thoughts. Bought to replace the Monroe air shocks I had on the Dyna that cracked the weld and leaked. Replacing the upper hub was easier than the Monroe because it was a true tubular hub and not a coiled belt like the Monroe. The Monroes weren't perfectly round and I had to grind them down to get the bushings in. Finish wise they were pretty decent, I would have ridden them if they hadn't had a few weird red scuffs, it baffled me but the box was sealed well so I was like what the heck. I sandblasted and painted them and they looked great. Mounted and trying to ventilate. He ignored the sensor on the bike and got over 160psi before the shock moved. This damaged the pressure gauge, which is not encouraging. The shock was blown right out of the box. Another thing to watch out for is the wiring. They come out parallel to the strike while the Monroes were perpendicular. Nothing terrible, except they're not left and right like Monroe. This leads to long shock paths. It's fine if you have a packer, but on my Dyna, the shocks converge right in front of the rear wheel. Monroes look much cleaner after installation. I'm not sure if they came bad from the factory or if some scum bought the shocks and returned the burned ones. That's why I give 3 stars. I went back to Monroe although they have no guarantee that they will work well and fit better. At least they worked out of the box.
