Update: (Rating changed to 3 stars for now, will update next) After emailing the company they agreed readily acknowledging that I had done whatever I could to fix. and that the materials I was trying to grind were within the capabilities of the product, I must have received a defective product, it happens. They agreed to send me a replacement coffee grinder which has already been shipped and should be here tomorrow. Very fast customer service. As long as the one I get works, I'm happy. - Initial Rating: (1 star) I purchased this item for a business I am starting where I need dried peppers (think jalapeno) that are chopped into fine crumbs. Powder. I received it today and started using it after a few hours. The manual says that sparks and strange smells are normal at first, but as you keep using it they will eventually go away. So it immediately starts to sparkle and smell burnt and smoke comes out. I only used it for 30 seconds and dehydrated jalapenos aren't much of a problem with a machine that claims to help grind real pearls and ginseng. I let it sit for about 5 minutes while re-reading the manual to make sure everything was in order. After checking the manual again, I started it up for another 30 seconds. More smoke, sparks and bad smell. I had to open all the windows and turn on the fan above the stove. Then a small safety switch appeared. Since then I haven't been able to turn it on fully. I go to start it and you can hear it start spinning for about 1 second, then the safety switch clicks and it rolls back up. I've tried everything the manual says (replacing brushes, checking lids for tightness, making sure blades aren't stuck, correct output, etc.) and nothing gets it working properly again. The car didn't overheat, I didn't run the engine for too long, the fuel level wasn't too hard or overfilled. When my friend tried to open the lid (using both hands) to help me troubleshoot, he got electrocuted. It was pretty scary and now I'm too scared to even use it. It's unplugged on my counter because I'm tired of playing with it. Not what I expected after all the great reviews. I've been looking for a good one for my business for months and this is what I got. Frustrated, frustrated and unable to do their job. I emailed support with the email from the documents that came in the box. I'll update as soon as we see what comes of it. I hope this can be resolved without me having to pay a ton of money for shipping or any other nightmare scenario you've heard about from other overseas sellers.
