I use them for sanding small parts. Take a piece of sandpaper slightly larger than the gap, about 3/4 inch long. Then glue a strip of Double Tap on top, this should be a very thin material that you use to glue the wood that turners use. Peel the surface, place the mandrel in the groove, wrap and you're good to go, the tape will prevent it from unraveling, work at slow speed.
