I have an old Mini Shop-Vac and they fixed two of the biggest issues with the old model. The side clamps are much easier to use in new materials and employ a twist-lock hose end connection replacing the old dumb hose connection that took 2 1/2 hands and 3 tries to reassemble. Anyway, these things are great for cars and other small vacuuming jobs. Anyway, for the reasonable price of this mini vacuum, I got it and switched my old unit to an emergency wet pickup. At the risk of encouraging conspicuous consumption, I find it extremely convenient to have two such devices, one for wet collection and the other for dry collection. For wet pickup, remove the rubber retaining ring and fabric filter from the foam filter core, get the job done, remove the nozzle, allow the foam filter to drain and dry for a few days, and then reattach the fabric. Filter and retaining ring for dry cleaning. Much easier to have one for every task. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the new device has airflow in addition to the vacuum connection. The old model just sucks (couldn't resist).
