This IR thermometer works by showing you a number on the display when you point it at something. The number will NOT be the exact temperature of the object. I tried on several items, including my skin and forehead, as well as food from the fridge, and found a few issues; Initially, the displayed temperature was 5-8 degrees lower than expected. For example, a forehead reading might show 88 degrees. The second problem with this item is that the repeat tests will be different. If you hold the thermometer in the same place and take 3 repeated readings, you will get at least 3 different temperatures. I understand this is an entry-level thermometer and was willing to deviate 2-4 degrees. but this thing was too far.
