I bought this to use my MacBook Pro (2016 without Touch Bar) to give presentations in different classrooms. This has worked well for me so far. I use it 4 times a week for 1 hour 15 minute lectures. I use it half the time for HDMI connections and half the time for VGA connections. In my use (on the podium) the connectors are secure on all ends and I haven't had a connection issue in over two months. I regularly use my second USB-C port for the presentation controller, so I guess the USB-C end doesn't take up much space. I'm very happy with it for the price I paid.
