Review on Throttle Position Sensor 3L5Z9B989AA Navigator by Alexander Scharon

Better than factory, but be careful

So my 2005 f150 started weird and a moment later the engine key light came on. I had codes P2135 and P2106 related to the throttle position sensor so I went looking for a new one. The OEM cost over $60 here and it was supposed to take 3 weeks to ship! The local parts store wanted $75 for that particular part number. Here it only cost $17 and arrived in less than 48 hours of ordering. After installation my truck ran better than ever, believe it or not. This TPS has a metal groove for the throttle shaft as opposed to the factory plastic flats. My guess is that after 15 years of tossing and turning, the factory just warped. Be very careful when removing old screws. Ford thought it would be a good idea to put blue Loctite on the tiny propeller tracks. I highly recommend removing the entire throttle body. It's easy to do. 5 screws for the airbox and 4 for the throttle body. I believe it was 3 wire connectors and 1 hose total. There is an O-ring under the throttle body. I reused mine as it was in good condition and I didn't have another. Once removed, heat the aluminum slightly to melt the thread lock and use a 1/4" impact driver with a T20 Torx bit to loosen the screws. I tried heating mine while it was still threaded. truck and used an L-shaped torx wrench. I broke the head of a screw. Once the entire throttle body was off I was able to heat up another bolt and use a punch. He came out easily. Luckily I was able to reheat the remaining bolt with a small pair of pliers and unscrew it since it was still sticking out a bit.
