Review on Stearns Child Classic Life Vest by James Jenkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for youth over 30 pounds - here's why

This was for my grandson who is 2 1/2 and weighs 32 pounds. (Grandma's tip: he didn't want to wear it at first, so it became "magically floating" instead of a life jacket.) I'll give it 5 stars and give it a thumbs up. ADVANTAGES: 1) Quality design and construction 2) Excellent fit, with adjustable straps to accommodate weight and size differences 3) Running gear strap ensures the lifejacket stays in place around the child's neck and head 4) Is it durable but not bulky. Looks really good! Understand. CONS: 1) It would be nice to have an open strap sewn into the back as a handle (like dog life jackets but no real handle and it lays flat) that would make it easier for an adult to hold on to a dodgy kid who does as well it goes on wanting to get over the edge of the rushing boat. 2) It was such a perfect fit for a 32lb guy and the straps even had to be loosened a bit - I have some doubts if it would fit a 49lb or 50lb youngster. When I grow up I'll report back. ;-)

  • Safety and Buoyancy Aids
Cons
  • Almost OK
