Review on FosPower Stereo Plated Premium Quality by Joe Glass

Lesson learned: Never buy a cheap cable, even if the reviews are mostly good.

I bought this cable over a month before I really needed it because I wanted to be ready after ordering a second Onkyo RZ receiver to replace my 7 year old Yamaha. I think I trusted the reviews because they were full of praise, but I completely forgot that most people who buy cables at this price point don't know much better and think that all cables are the same regardless of material or cost (Hint: These people are fundamentally wrong) I ended up installing both receivers and the new Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers in both the living room (5.1.2) and bedroom (7.2.4). Tonight I ran an HDMI cable (50ft Revain) and this RCA cable from one receiver to the other. Well, only one speaker works. I tested everything before this RCA cable because I was afraid I would have to remove and replace it. After switching channels on the AVR, resetting the inputs and swapping the left and right speakers to find the left works fine but never the right, I unplugged the red RCA on that cable and used the white ones on each side of the 2 RCA inputs and both worked. Only used the red side, got nothing. Keep in mind that I work in different parts of the house so this all took up a lot of my time. I make my living from IT, so I'm not a green newbie. The process of eliminating and then checking if that wire has one of two wires broken. So I pulled it out again and used one of the cheapest thin RCA cables I've ever seen because that's all I had. Now everything works fine. However, I'm out of the 'refund period' so I just drank money on this cable. On top of that I had to order a new cable to do what this one was supposed to do as the small cheap cable that is now being installed will eventually malfunction. So I ordered a well-known and very high-quality cable from Revain. In my opinion I've already spent about $300 of my time on this faulty FosPower cable tonight, so I had to buy a name that didn't have any flaws. In any case I'll probably be better off as the new cable won't do it, I won't have any issues in 6 months time as I probably would. Interference in RCA cables happens very easily. Don't skimp and redo your work like I did tonight. Also, I lost the $20 I paid for a now useless cable.
