So, I've had an opportunity now to compare these needle cartridges from Cinra to others currently available in the same (or similar) price range. This is a selection of mixed cartridges. Here is what you will receive:5- 3 needle round liners with a medium taper.5- 5 needle round liners with a medium taper.5- 7 needle round liners with a medium taper.5- 9 needle round liners with a medium taper.5- 5 needle flat (mag) shaders with a short taper.5- 7 needle flat (mag) shaders with a short taper.5- 9 needle flat (mag) shaders with a short taper.5- 11 needle flat (mag) shaders, with a short taper.I was a bit disappointed to see the mags in #12 (short) taper. To me, although these pack a lot of color in, they're just hard for me to work with (could be my lack of skill and experience, not the needle cartridge). I simply prefer the feel of the #10, which seems to work more easily, doing less damage to the skin. Many, many years ago I would make my own liners and shaders using a soldering iron and jig. Having that experience, and of course, never wishing to repeat it, I have a deep admiration for needles like these in the cartridges. The solder job is always impressive, and naturally the fact that these are already sterilized and blister-packaged is impressive to me. No autoclave for these beauties! The cartridge itself is not unlike many others on the market, except for the fact that the side opening is a bit more generous. There are those "old timers" I suppose that will put a finger on the bar, controlling the movement of the liner, or shader. Old habits die hard, but this design should make these tattooists feel more comfortable. For amateurs like myself, I appreciate the construction of these cartridges, and the fact that they click in very solidly. That's reassuring.Other brands that I've sampled recently come with a flared silicone taper ring, right where the cartridge meets the tattoo "pen", or "gun". It's a place to put your fingers if your the type of tattooist that likes a bit of finger overhand. Learning to tattoo back when the tubes and grips were far narrower makes this an appealing feature, though not necessary.Lastly, these cartridges have a green top for shaders, and a black top for liners, also a nice feature. This is something that can be a time saver when you're tired and beginning to get a bit foggy. It also bears mentioning that the shaders/mags are NOT curved. They are flat, or square tipped. Some will like, some won't. For me, very familiar.Overall, this is a nice set. I personally would have preferred all medium taper (#10) needles, but hey, you certainly can't please everyone. I will certainly use and enjoy this set.
