DANGEROUS! - Heating, cooling and air quality

Not sure if I received a defective unit but I bought the same model 2 winters ago and it still works great. Decided to buy another one for my bedroom. I've had it for 2 months now and woke up in the middle of the night to smoke coming out of the plug. The block overheats and the candle melts, causing it to melt. My electrician came and checked the outlet which he thought was fine and said the heater was the source of the problem. If I wasn't at home, a fire could easily start. Too bad the return period has expired.
