Review on Gigabyte B450 AORUS V2 Motherboard by Olusola Edwards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My first DIY PC for $460.

I think I made a good choice with this Aorus Elite B450. I added Ryzen 3 2200G. This board has 6 temperature sensors which I think is a nice feature. 4 RGB headers (2 addressable) plus 2 MB embedded RGB zones (one of which is Falcon's Head). With RGB Fusion you can program them all differently. I have 3 green fans 4 pins for $10. Fans don't change color, but with 4 pins, you can adjust the speed. I like the layout of 4 reels. I installed 2 Patriot Viper 3000Mhz Red, they look amazingly bright in the RGB strip I installed. I get 3000MHz without overclocking. This MB contains 2 NVME M.2 SSDs, which are much faster than 2.5 SSDs. 1 is PCIE Gen 3x4 and 1 is PCIE Gen 3x2. I bought X2 before realizing that X4 is twice as fast as X2 and 5x as fast as 2.5 SSD. Both are 256GB, one costs $41, the other $45. I ended up using both but could have saved a chunk on this budget PC. But that gives me 500GB of SSD space. I am using StoreMI to merge two drives. I can add my old 1TB hard drive but I want to try and stick to everything if I can. Ryzen has a pretty good integrated graphics card, but I need 3 monitors, so I'm using my old 1050i. My old Dell had DDR3, 4th Gen Intel I7 (so couldn't upgrade). DVD players are old school now. I don't know, it's mostly NVME, but this new PC is much faster and more responsive. My Windows 10 did a few updates and it did it in about 30 seconds. The BIOS is great too, you can see the temperatures, the speed of each fan, the frequency of the processor, you can use F2 to switch from simple mode to full mode. The system is easy to overclock. I'm an old hand so I don't play games, but I do a lot of graphic design. I'm glad I switched from Intel to AMD. I'm glad I went for a bigger motherboard, I may need additional PCI and DDR slots later, I'm sure I'll use all 4 LED headers, I'm considering a LED clock to hang on the wall and put a small infinity mirror in the case. So for $400+ monitors, you can build a good upgradable gaming system.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No performance
