Don't buy this product with a hard drive in mind. YOU CANNOT INSTALL A HARD DISK INTO THIS DEVICE! This is because it doesn't come with the correct SATA power cable for the hard drive. You might think it would be easy to order one or buy one at your local computer store. As it turns out, this device uses a proprietary connector which cannot be found after 3 hours of internet searching and visiting 4 different local computer stores. This is a very specific connector that connects to the NVR box and not the hard drive and should be enabled. Due to the fact that it is not included in the kit and the cable cannot be purchased separately, it is not possible to install a hard drive as advertised. I am returning this NVR today.
