Review on Swagman XTC2 TILT Hitch Mount by Wayne Ohlrogge

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Big! Once you collect it!

I am a 68 year old female who has recently retired and is looking for a place to bike. I needed a bike rack that I could handle that wasn't too heavy, complex, but reliable to use. I needed a wheel pan so I wouldn't have to lift my Giant hybrid bike too high. Was considering Yakima Hold Up and Thule but too much $$$$ for the amount I would spend on a rack. Decided to put this swagman (which had lots of great feedback and suggestions) on my 2020 Subaru Forester. I tried to assemble it following the instructions but to no avail. I asked my son for help. Then, after reading the reviews about it being "easy to assemble (not)", I decided to give it another try. It took me about 1.5 grueling hours to read and reread the instructions (not very convenient, I'd love to write new swagman), I finally did it! Felt so successful and proud. Many people said that the instructions made sense after you successfully completed them, which is true, but they certainly could have been better. I secured my bike and just rode around town for a test ride. Very little wobble, my bike feels secure. The tilt function is great as the tailgate still opens. The stand is difficult to remove, but I'll check that out. I'm afraid I push the button to auto open the tailgate and then what?!?!? Overall I think this is a good quality stand with good features and value for money. I am happy with my purchase, just read the instructions very literally.
