They replaced a pair of Vittoria Mezcal 2.25s In comparison, the Mezcal 2.25s look about the same size if you count the grips as part of the width , and the Fire Pro 2.35 case is smaller according to my probes. I ride a hardtail and was hoping that the high-volume tire would help absorb some of the impact...no luck, I do feel a bit of rolling resistance on flat, slick sections of trail, but that's to be expected if you're more of a bike XC change a trail/all-mountain tire. They are quite easy to mount on standard rims with a tubeless conversion using packing tape. I've been riding them 2-3 times a week for 10-20 miles for a month and haven't noticed any signs of wear. Grip is excellent in conditions I didn't even expect the tires to get stuck...loose gravel, sand, mud and other places where I just assume I'll slip, but not with these tires. For that reason, and also because of the low price, I'd highly recommend them to anyone who's seconds away from a podium finish in a cross-country race (about the only time a little extra rolling resistance really counts). and I will consider buying another pair after I wear them out.
