Review on PANASONIC 7 14MM MIRRORLESS THIRDS H F007014 by Andrew Camlin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It is better than the Olympus 9-18, smaller, lighter and cheaper than the Olympus 7-14

Very happy with the 7-14. Using an Olympus Pen F and Lightroom, the distortion is corrected somewhere so it's not visible. As for the dilemma many reviewers are referring to, there really isn't one. The Olympus 9-18 is cheaper and not as sharp. The Pansonic 7-14 is more expensive and, despite the distortion correction, it is also very good in the corners. I had both lenses and the Olympus lens isn't bad; it's just not great. The Olympus 7-14/2.8 is the best, but if you're looking for one of those don't read this, and the Olympus's size, weight, and cost are irrelevant. Panasonic has a purple border that Olympus users may need to remove during processing (I assume Panasonic cameras do this automatically). Stray light and missing bokeh (out of focus circles)? That's true, but ultra-wide-angle lenses aren't ideal for shooting against the sun or shallow depth of field. Any other type of lens can do this better than an ultra wide angle. So there are 3 options here. Olympus 9-18 which is perfect for the m43 gear in terms of size and weight but isn't sharp in the corners. The Panasonic 7-14, which is still quite small but is wider and sharper than the Olympus 9-18, and the Olympus 7-14/2.8, which is great but too big and heavy to take advantage of the really small ones and light M43 gear. may be. Of course, all these lenses are tiny and cheap compared to Nikon 12-24 or Canon 11-24. Lenses cover the entire range from ultra wide angle to wide angle and replace at least two or even three lenses. And no, 12mm lenses aren't much better than 7-14 lenses from Panasonic or Olympus, but they're even smaller, faster, and lighter. Therefore, it is the best choice if you are absolutely sure that you want a 12mm focal length.
