Review on Skyjacker F520 Black Softride Spring by Tristan Graham

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Drives smoothly. does not lift

I have a 3/4" hub. This installation was done on a flat surface and the truck was measured to the ground by a strip of tape on the side panel with a black line across it. , as well as from the highest point of the wing to the ground. It measures a 3/4 difference. My concern is that after removing the factory feathers I measured the new ones against them and found they were only 1/4" larger .I stopped work until I could reach the manufacturer during normal business hours.I called Skyjacker and spoke to a representative thinking I might have gotten the wrong nibs. There is no model anywhere on the nibs and they are packed in clear plastic in a box He assured me that the buoyancy is coming from the heavier weight springs (f520_8000lbs-factory_6000) and that s the height of the uninstalled spring doesn't matter and they compress less due to the design of the spring. I asked what the estimated length should be and he said that for some reason there is no information in the system for this model. So, on the manufacturer's advice, I proceeded with the installation when the time came, only to find that I got 20-. 30% of the advertised effect. They ride well and articulate as you would expect from a good spring. The fact is that the factory spring has also shown itself well. I bought this to match the multi-stage trailing springs I have in the rear. They raise the back of the truck 3 inches. The change from 5/8 to 3/4 inch is visually imperceptible compared to the factory. I am firmly convinced that the wrong pen was sent to me. My rationale is that while they didn't deliver the travel advertised, or even half the travel advertised, in all other respects the spring appears to be very well made. This makes them a total waste of money.

Pros
  • Higher tensile strength
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
