This alarm works very well and is much better than other alarm devices with a part that only detects movement. This design uses a two piece approach with a main body and a separate magnet. As soon as the magnet is removed, a sensor in the main body detects this and sends a signal to the receiver's alarm box. In my experience with other types of notification devices that use a piece and trigger motion, there is room for error depending on how long the mailbox door is left open. With this design, this is not a source of error.
