I was skeptical about these sticky materials, especially when they brought a roll of duct tape, but they really do stick...no duct tape needed. I've had mine pointed at it for several days with a book and a 25 pound weight. During this time I carefully cleaned the wooden staircase. My ladders are polyurethane so I wiped them down with some rubbing alcohol. Pulling the plastic protector off was tricky as the little tab broke 75% of the time, but I solved this problem by making my own little tab out of duct tape...pulled it out right away! It took about 10 minutes to install all the parts. They look so pretty, comfy and surprisingly thicker than I thought they would and they really do hold up! I cannot be happier with this purchase.
