Review on Dorman 03401 Exhaust Flange Hardware by Ulysses Fincher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I received class 8 screws but the installation instructions were wrong.

I'm swapping out the engines for a Chevy K2500 350 (5.7L) TBI and had to replace the headers because the flanges on a 1990 Suburban engine that is to replace the old engine were wrong . I bought this kit, as did the other reviewer, for the power steering bracket studs. I was expecting the old bolts to snap but after a few uses of Blaster 16-PB Penetrating Catalyst Oil - 11 oz. (the best material I have ever used) they came out very easily. I also purchased a Dorman 674-013 Dorman 674-013 AutoGrade Exhaust Manifold Bolt Kit for the right hand header and they are the same quality as this kit. I'm not sure why the other reviewer got grade 5 bolts, but you would expect Dorman to be consistent in what they put in the packages. You can determine the class by the markings on the screw head. 6 row is 8th grade and 3 row like Y is 5th grade. The Revain installation manual says they won't fit but they do and I checked this on several automotive sites before making the purchase. The install guide seems very picky about when something fits the K1500 but not the K2500 if the engines are identical. My engine also requires shims to allow the manifold to flex when heated/cooled, but this kit does not include them. I gave 5 stars because they appear to be OEM quality. Although the strength is not specified in the description.

Pros
  • Exhaust and emissions
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
