I've always been a big fan of the Venture 6 and appreciated its fit and durability, but was very disappointed with the Venture 7 (flat like flats!) so I was skeptical when testing the Venture 8. Descriptions of the improvements they made sounded like they added much-needed forefoot room and other minor changes, some cosmetic. When I put them on, they fit just like the Venture 6, but more "fitting". I generally have a pretty straight 11D foot. It also feels like a little more cushioning in the heel, which is great as the 6 was soft enough, but a little more goes a long way. The 8 feels like what the 7 should have been, and all black (not grey/lighter "black") and water resistant (yet to see but I don't plan on swimming in it) is huge . The presence of additional holes for a lace closure is a welcome addition to the 6, although the laces are quite flimsy and require a bit of fiddling to get them just right. However, it is well worth the extra effort. The price is reasonable and should go down over time. The Venture 7 was advertised at "sale" prices and perhaps ASICS learned from feedback from people like me who liked it but weren't comfortable wearing it. Maybe not for everyone, but if you have a regular old 11D foot. it is great. I'm sure a roomy fit will also help those who need it.
